Selling your home requires effort and marketing. Showings are going to be a part and parcel of your selling journey. Preparing your home to sell means staging it appropriately for showings as well You got a home showing scheduled and what are the top things to do so that your house is ready in a jiffy. If your fundamentals are not in place the last 10 minutes are not going to help! It requires room by room effort in connecting all the pieces to stage a complete home. But yes, if you have already got all staging fundamentals in place to appeal to a "buyer's eyes" here are TOP things to do in 10 minutes:
1. Get the bedrooms together. Make sure all bedrooms are done, comforters spread out with layers of cushions and pillows. Here is what we don't want - I call it the flippy floppy bed. You know with pillows looking that they had a tough night! Make sure such pillows are beneath the bedspread or replaced. Now, take a steam iron and warmly iron out all creased off your bed spread giving it a clean look hotel style.Clear off all the bedside tables of everything except not more than 2 vital things, maybe a lamp or clock. 2. Curb Appeal - Create your first impressions That;s where your buyer is going to make his first impression. Homes that sell fast make great first impressions. If the area where buyers walk in is not clean ask a family member to give a quick broom clean. Else just make sure its neat and tidy with no extra coupons, magazines or extra furniture lying around. Move one of your suitable plants and make sure you have a clean welcome mat. 3. Kitchen brighten up Clear off all the countertops of everything except one or two major appliances. A coffee maker or one other is alright. For even smaller countertops keep it as open and without objects as possible. Neat and without any of the other elements, appliances, bottles and cans. Make sure there are no dirty dishes in the sink and no garbage in open show. Try and put together a basket of your most fresh fruit and lime in the center of a countertop. The area you think deserves a focal point. 4. Toys splatter clearance Make sure kids have put all toys away neatly under their beds or closets well hidden from sight. Toys around the place are not a great idea, no matter how much we value them. 5. Bath Remove all towels from sight, try and reduce the number of bottles on the counter and see that its clean and has no ungainly sights. Put all toilet bowl covers down. That's it. If you have family help this should not take more than 10 minutes. These are not the exhaustive list of things in home staging but yes, the top ones to do quickly! Make sure that you have thought about staging the home as a whole and made the fundamental changes from a buyer's perspective including laying out furniture, focal points and building emotional connections earlier on.
